Burleigh Bears JRL Club History : website      NRL Club Gold Coast Titanswebsite

Burleigh Bears JRL club was formed in 1967 and at that time became the third junior club on the Gold Coast. The home ground was originally located at Rudd Park but was relocated to Pizzey Park Miami.

With 43 junior sides registering in 2010, the Burleigh Heads Junior Rugby Leagues club is one of the biggest in Queensland and possibly in Australia.

It has been a great nursery for NRL clubs over the years, with the Titans to be rewarded in coming years with the development of local juniors.

Current NRL players with a Burleigh Juniors background are:

Ben Hannant (Bulldogs) Sam Perrett (Roosters) Darious Boyd (St George)
Clint Amos (Cowboys) Jordan Rankin (Titans) Kane Lawson (Titans) and Alex Glen (Broncos).

Australian Rugby League Stars attends Ray & Nicole Arrow Fundraiser
Rugby League Ambassador and former State of Origin Player, Graham Eadie, and fellow origin team-mate, Steve Martin recently attended a benefit night for a Burleigh Heads family that has fallen on difficult times. Ray & Nicole Arrow, who have had a long association with the Burleigh Bears Junior Rugby League Club, were generously supported by their friends in the Junior League community after both have suffered serious illnesses resulting in a loss of employment.

The Burleigh Bears Club, situated on the Gold Coast, was the venue for a night of entertainment and fundraising. Local businesses generously donated fantastic prizes for auction and local comedian Danny McMasters donated his time to provide quality entertainment for the two hundred and fifty guests who attended the evening.

MC for the evening was Mr Scott Sattler (former NRL player and current Fox Sports commentator) who interviewed Graham (Wombat) Eadie and Steve (Whiz) Martin about the role of Legends assisting communities throughout Australia. Both Graham and Steve are involved in developing and delivering community-based programmes to help guide and nurture today’s youth. Both former players are committed to their role of guiding young people into career pathways and encouraging the youth to embrace their roles as respected citizen in their communities.

Not to be outdone, former Queensland FOG, Wally Fullerton-Smith also spoke about Queensland FOGS and what they are achieving in communities throughout Queensland

Also at the function was Paul Upfield (former NRL player) who was part of the Aussie Sport Skills demonstration session held in Gunnedah in 2007.

Paul guided the successful St Xavier's Primary School team through the rugby league skills. He was happy to see the program now in the hands of the NSWFOGS.
