Day 1 - Humbug Cup Golf Day in support of Junior Rugby League Development
Fundraising Event :
The Humbug Cup was hosted this year by the Maitland Old Boys. The Humbug Cup is a great way for friends to get together and enjoy a game of golf whilst helping to promote Rugby League in the Maitland area. It is also an opportunity to remember one of life’s true characters, Phil Humble (Humbug). Phil’s life was cut short in a tragic accident in 2005. Phil was a passionate golfer and supporter of Rugby League.

The golf day report... stay tuned !

Hunter Valley Wine Tour : ...
To wind down after organising the Humbug Cup Golf Day fundraiser, Rob & Libby Parrey went 'Walkabout with Wombat' to the Huntery Valley Wine Country.
Touring the wine country in a 20 seater air conditioned  bus and taste testing some of Australia's best wines, was a great way to experience the hospitality extended to the touring group by the owners and staff of the well established wineries. The first stop was the historic Tyrrell's Winery which was established in 1858 and is recognised as home to some of the Hunter Valley's finest vineyards.
A formal wine tasting session was conducted at Blue Tongue Brewery which proved to be a great educational experience for all who attended. The touring team members were made to feel most welcome by the host presenter who shared his knowledge and understanding of the different varieties of wines that are available. An added bonus to the wine tasting session was the inclusion of a cheese, nut and fruit platter which complemented the wines   being sampled. Scattered throughout the Hunter Valley Wine Country are numerous vineyards catering for visitors by providing a complete experience of wining and dining. Many of the valley's restaurants serve local produce served as culinary delights that complement the region's fine wines.
