2. Speedy leg work... (Think of ladder drill)

3. Exagerated arm & leg movement at the start.

4. Tuck ball under arm.

5. High knee action.

6. Keep head still and in a forward position.

2. DROP PUNT KICK INSTRUCTIONS 

 

1. Grip ball as normal (for pass etc.)
   fingers spread.

2. Guide the ball with the kicking side hand and 
   release
 to foot.

3. Strike to ball with the 'top side' of your foot.

4. Remain balanced  the ball should roll end 
   over end.

5. Extend Leg after contact for accuracy and 
   distance.

COACHING CORRECTIONS   

1. Not controlling ball release.

2. Incorrect contact with the foot/ball.

3. No follow-through after kick.

4. Trying to kick the ball too hard.

5. Unbalanced.

 


3. GOAL KICK INSTRUCTIONS 

 

1. Aim/set ball at target.

2. Walk back your required steps.

3. Look at target/visualize your shot.

4. Relax  starting your approach fluently.

5. Eyes only now focused on point of contact.

6. As rehearsed, place non-kicking foot 
   alongside the ball pointing in direction 
   of target.

7.Rotate your hips bringing kicking leg forward 
  and straightening - strike the target 
  with a straight instep.  
  Keep head down.

8. Follow through in direction of target.

COACHING CORRECTIONS   

1. Eyes not looking at contact.

2. Head remains stable and down.

3. Non-kicking foot not alongside ball.

4. Not looking at point of contact.

5. Trying to "kick too hard”.

 


4. FIELD GOAL INSTRUCTIONS 

 

1. Normal grip of ball (1/2 down fingers spread).

2. Look at target.

3. Eyes focused on point of contact.

4. Take required steps  remain balanced, eyes 
    on point of contact.

5. Ball dropped with kicking leg hand, head 
   over ball.

6. Make contact with instep or upper foot 
   and extend leg to follow through.

1. Incorrect drop of ball.

2. Unbalanced.

3. No follow through.

4. Rushing the shot.

 


5. GRUBBER KICK INSTRUCTIONS

 

1. Normal ball grip (same as passing).

2. Run a few steps remaining balanced.

3. Identify target area.

4. Release ball with kicking leg side hand 
   to the top-side of the foot.

5. Keep knee slightly bent on contact/impact.

6. Point toes in target direction follow through.

7. Body should remain upright.

COACHING CORRECTIONS   

1. Poor ball release and contact.

2. Unbalanced.

3. Knee straight on impact resulting in no control.

4. No Leg follow through.

 


6. PASS THE BALL (Standing Pass)

 

1. Hold ball  basic grip (fingers spread).

2. Standing side-on to receiver/target...  
   Step towards target direction with 
   closest foot.

3. Ball at 6'o'clock (upright) swing arms across 
    body rotate torso.

4. Extend arms  release ball towards target.

COACHING CORRECTIONS   

1. Unbalanced stepping with incorrect foot.

2. Incorrect grip.

3. Not rotating torso  direction problems.

4. Not extending arms to target.
